Assembly District 58 is a +36 Republican stronghold.
Incumbent Rick Gundrum retires leaving an open seat. Gundrum was opposed to hemp cannabis reform and was a co-sponsor of the bill to ban hemp in Wisconsin.
Who is up to bat?
Republican Chris Bossert announced, says he knows Testin/Kurtz Website: https://bossert-for-assembly-58.com/ Email: christopher@bossert-for-assembly-58.com Phone: (262) 404-5158. He asked for help getting signatures and would read the SB 682/AB 747 and after a few initial facebook chats, he did provide this “As I mentioned, it’s not one of my priority issues so if I elected I would wait and see what is proposed and learn more about the issue then.”
VS
Bernie Newman (R)
The https://www.facebook.com/bernienewmanforwi or email at bernienewmanforwi@gmail.com and website: https://bernienewmanforwi.com/ and a few of my facebook friends posted they liked him vs Bossert cuz of bipartisanshipness.
And after the primary is over, the Democrat on the ticket is:
Dennis D. Degenhardt (D) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DegenhardtForAssembly ? maybe, his website url goes to spam
Where is Assembly District 58?
central and eastern Washington County, including the villages of Jackson, Newburg, and Slinger, and most of the city of West Bend.
Strategy at this point is to now get to Bernie Newman and see if he is more favorable to Saving Hemp First and this as a campaign issue vs his opponent. Get voters to reach out to both Republican candidates with their stories about why marijuana legalization matters.
